Marlin Ballard No. 8 Union Hill With A Rigby barrel And Scope. Marlin Ballard No 8 Union Hill With A Rigby Barrel. This rifle is in good shape with a smooth action and double set triggers that work well. The barrel has been reblued, yet the Rigby markings are still clear. The bore is good and the barrel is 25". The Action has a somewhat mottled finish, the remnants of case colour, and the patent/ brand markings are clear as is the serial no. The rear sight is a tang mounted peep and the front is hooded. the scope is a fixed power brass that is clear and mounted in Winchester mounts. The stock is a pistol grip and the fore end a slim style that has a schnabel shape and an inletted horn v. The wood on this rifle is very nice with sharp chequering and a really nice oil finish. There is a horn v inletted into the grip cap portion of the pistol grip at the bottom of the lever. The lop is 13 1/2" from the rear trigger to a factory marlin horn buttplate. The rifle weighs 6lbs 11oz. This rifle has been restored especially where the wood is concerned. The wood to metal fit is excellent and the quality of wood is very good. The caliber is a bit rare... It is 25-15-60 Stevens... None of that down at Wall Mart! The cartridges can be made though and the ballistics are said to be good. This is a really beautiful rifle in person and I fully plan to take it hunting this fall if it is not sold.
